Sophia’s story.
When daily medical care suddenly felt impossible, hands-on guidance turned fear into confidence.
“My latest challenge seemed impossible.”
I love a cat who has been my best, most consistent, most available friend in good and bad times. Until now it has been easy and satisfying to do everything she needs to stay healthy and happy.
My cat, Sophia, is only 8 years old and developed chronic kidney disease, while I am close to 80 years old with back problems. Sophie needs daily subcutaneous fluids and several medications in order to allow her a good quality of life as long as possible. Everything seemed unsurmountable.
And then we got a reprieve.
Sue showed up like a guardian angel, bringing her seasoned and competent skills to our home so that I could learn how to save my cat. We have known Sue over 20 years through her connection to our veterinary clinic. The length of her experience speaks for itself.
She came to my home promptly—every day until I felt confident enough to give Sophie subcutaneous fluids on my own. She was patient, efficient, and compassionate. She showed me how to set up for administration of the fluids and then how to do it.
She also provided tips and education on other types of “nursing care” for cats and interfaced with the clinic to be sure we had our supplies.
